While I was at the Women’s Fiction Festival in southern Italy there was buzz about George Clooney’s wedding (like everywhere else in the world) which was taking place just north of the country. Ahhh… George. You see, authors like to dream sometimes about their book made into a Hollywood film. You never know, after all. So, in such a case, one must be ready. ;) Like my friend and fellow expat author Kim Golden has done with her dream cast for Maybe Baby, another women’s fiction novel set abroad; I decided to make one for the leading roles for Chasing Athens.
In fact, author Effrosyni Moschoudi interviewed me about that very topic and the article was recently featured on her blog. I named some suggestions about the lead female character, Ava Martin. Ava is a multicultural character who is of mixed descent — half white and the other half Mexican/Chinese. Not a whole lot of actresses to choose from but I like the look of Kristin Kreuk who is of Chinese and Dutch descent.
So we get to George. I like George. I’ve liked him since the days of watching Facts of Life reruns after elementary school. Today, he’s the essence of sophistication and charm — and that smile! Yep, there’a a reason I nicknamed Stephanos Danos the ‘Greek George Clooney.’ So it’s a no brainer who I’d love, love, love to see as my leading man.
So there you have it. Those are my lead roles and my dream cast. The fabulous George Clooney as the Greek hotel magnate Stephanos Danos and the beautiful Kristin Kreuk as a frenzied and heartbroken American expat trying to figure out her place in the world.
Now, back to writing their story two…
